From the same team that brought animated classics Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda to the big screen comes a new animated hero ready to take the world by storm — all by wearing his underpants.

Based on the best-selling series by Dav Pilkey, Captain Underpants (Ed Helms) is a comic superhero created by two fourth-graders who materalizes after the students hypnotize their principal, Mr. Krupp (also played by Helms).

  • Ed Helms as Mr. Krupp/Captain Underpants

    Taking on the role of the tighty-whitey-clad superhero is Hangover star Ed Helms. Known for being the mean school principal of Jerome Horwitz Elementary, Mr. Krupp is hypnotized by two students, Harold and George, convincing him that he is a superhero dubbed as Captain Underpants. While most superheroes are known for their extraordinary and noteworthy powers, Captain Underpants proves to be in an alternate league than your typical hero. Helms also voiced roles in The Lorax, Monsters vs. Aliens and Everyone’s Hero.

    Kevin Hart voices George Beard, a fourth-grader who is notorious for being a prankster. After he and his friend Harold transform their principal into the superhero they created in their comic book, they soon learn that they got more than they bargained for and must keep watch over the principal they used to hate. Known for his comedic roles in Ride Along, Get Hard and The Wedding Ringer, Hart also voiced a bunny in The Secret Life of Pets. 

     

  • Nick Kroll as Professor Poopypants

    Comedian Nick Kroll is the film's villain, Professor Poopypants. Aware of his silly name, the professor devises a plan to alter everyone on the planet’s name into something equally silly. Kroll is best known for his roles in Little Fockers, Parks and Recreation and The Kroll Show and as a voice in the raunchy animated movie Sausage Party. 

     

  • Kristen Schaal as Edith Anthrope

    Last Man on Earth's Kristen Schaal lends her voice to the film as lunch lady Edith Anthrope. Although in the books the character is known for being the school’s harsh secretary, in the film Schaal’s Edith is the love interest of Mr. Krupp. Schaal also has voiced such animated characters as Trixie in Toy Story 3, the witches in Shrek Forever After and Mabel Pines in Gravity Falls. 

  • Thomas Middleditch as Harold Hutchins

    Harold is the yin to George’s yang, as he must help George in trying to tame their wacky principal, whom they hypnotized into becoming Captain Underpants. Middleditch is known best known for his role in Silicon Valley, but he has lent his voice to the comedy cartoon Henchmen.

  • Jordan Peele as Melvin

    Jordan Peele voices George and Harold’s nemesis, Melvin. Although Melvin is known for being a top student in their school, he is also notorious for being a tattletale, always scheming to get George and Harold in trouble. Peele is best known for his role in Key and Peele and also wrote and directed Get Out. He also lent his voice to the animated film Storks and the series Bob's Burgers.
