Will McFadden is headlining Doubting Thomas, which Anthony O’Brien has directed from a screenplay that McFadden adapted from a story he wrote with Joseph Campbell. The film was inspired by the true story of Campbell’s father, Rogers Campbell, an innocent black man who was killed by the police in 1987, according to the filmmakers. The film, a love story about a white couple who give birth to a black baby, is, said Campbell and McFadden, “not a message or a protest piece. It is more about trust than race.”

Doubting Thomas, which has completed principal photography, also stars Sarah Butler, Jamie Hector, Melora Walters, James Morrison, Robert Belushi and Zach Cregger. It is being produced by The Long Way Home LLC and producers Mark Mathias Sayre, Laura Salvato and Casey Morris.

The project is aiming for festival play and a 2016 theatrical release.
